Brasserie Staverden

Description

Brasserie Staverden lays in the middle of the castle garden of estate Staverden, one of the special places of the Veluwe. The brasserie exists of two rooms: the Orangerie and the consolatory.

The Orangerie was formerly used for overwintering of large (tropical) plants that are not able to cope with the frost of the Dutch weather.

The graves had these large plants as an expression of their wealth. Where the current greenhouse is was once a swimming pool. Both rooms are different and decorated with great care. The brasserie has their own greenhouse and vegetable garden. They grow their own crops and fruit by volunteers of Staverden. In the vegetable garden grow a lot of different herbs , lettuce , beans, asparagus, beets, Jerusalem artichoke, zucchini, carrots, onion, pumpkins and shrub celery and in the green house you can find several grapes, fresh mint, eggplants, paprika and cherry tomato. Everyone can come and take a look or register for volunteers work.
Chef Sjaak Kempeneers kooks mostly whit self-grown vegetables and herbs and toned whit a lot of region products. For instance bread is made whit cereal out of the region and meet is as well out of the region. The meals change with the seasons and the meals are all created by our kitchen.
